MICHELE SOMMERLATH

MID-CENTURY MODERN
A new and exciting space!

When Michele Sommerlath opens the 1000 square foot showroom called Michele Sommerlath – Mid-Century Modern, next door to her already thriving space Galerie Sommerlath in Culver City, it will be about introducing a new style to her clients – her own personal style.

“I want a space to show more obscure designers and interesting pieces from all of the different eras,” she said. “I love the fifties and sixties, but there is so much more out there.”

The new space is divided into glamorous vignettes, which tell little stories. A sleek leather couch in ebony by Paul Frankel is paired with a lucite and chrome coffee table by Charles Hollis Jones. An exotic burl wood table by Milo Beaumon sits under a large-scale mirror with 1940’s decorative details. Graphic, black and white prints grace one wall, giving the space a monochromatic edginess and understated sophistication.

Michele Sommerlath – Mid-Century Modern is the space that she will showcase her favorites from the 1930’s to the 1990’s – typically her most unusual finds. It is less about the name or the pedigree but about the pieces that exhibit a particularly high level of craftsmanship or originality in her vast collection of Mid-Century Modern furniture, art and accessories from Europe and the United States. It will be an area where she can pair pieces together in unexpected ways, or show small collections from an artist or a designer that she particularly admires.

The space will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm.
